Frequently Asked Questions

At Control Pest Management we receive a large amount of calls from customers asking simple yet important questions, below we list some of the most common questions asked by our customers.

What should I do if I find termites?

Finding termites inside your home can be a scary experience. Don’t disturb them, call for help immediately. Termites are timid, and if they come into contact with anything unexpected like humans digging into their ‘pathway’, they will simply up and move to another area of your house, where they are undisturbed, and continue destroying your timberwork until you detect them again. They rarely move ‘out’ because the food in the house is far too inviting for them to leave. If you think you have termites, call in the experts, to start the elimination process.

For those termites found outside, call the expert straight away, cause due to their nature if they are disturbed they will move, often straight towards the house which provides the security and food bank that they crave.

Is the treatment safe for my family and pets?

With Control Pest Management the answer is yes.

Our Pest Control technicians are highly skilled and use only the safest and most effective techniques for pest eradication, all of our chemicals are environmentally friendly and safe to both humans and pets.

Our carefully selected range of registered and thoroughly tested products along with our application methods are designed to cause no adverse health effects, particularly in sensitive situations with children, pets and health conditions such as asthma.

Can you be in the house at the same time the treatment is being done?

Yes you can remain inside the property because exposure to the chemicals are minimal. The safety precautions are rigidly followed by all technicians. Chemicals are sprayed carefully and directly on the areas that count by our experts, whether around the skirting boards inside the property, or inside the walls, cupboards, or any roof space. The chemicals used in the treatment are specially selected to meet your circumstances without compromising the effectiveness of the treatment.

What areas of the home/business/ property do we treat?

What do I need to do prior to pest treatments?

For best results, provide as much access for us to spray along the room edges, move furniture to the centre of the rooms, empty kitchen cupboards and ensure all food items are removed from kitchen tops. Think about your garage and accessing the room edges as well as the around the house walls outside. The more we can reach the more effective the treatment.

Services available to you and your family home come with full warrantees which are specific to treatment.

Can I get rid of the bugs?

Yes.  Engage our services and we will treat your home using a variety of treatments including gels, dust compound and spray. This controls a wider variety of bugs for a longer period.  We also share our expertise with you to help you make your environment less attractive to bugs.

I’m told I shouldn’t mop my floors for 5 days after my treatment is it true?

Certainly, let the chemicals dry on your floors so that they can embed into the floors/skirting boards otherwise you’re just washing the treatment away.  Sweep the edges for a few days and mop the remaining floor.  This gives the chemicals time to settle, then continue to provide maximum cover over the coming year.  No need to leave your counter tops anymore, as we use gels here.

What do I do with my birds?

Again, our treatments are safe, however, birds can be sensitive to odours we can’t smell, so please cover them or relocate whilst treatment is underway.

When is the best time of the year to do pest control?

Different bugs come with different seasons.

Keep yourself to a schedule of once a year and this will help keep you pest free.

*Business properties will require more regular treatment due to extra exposure

Rodents keep coming but I don’t know where from?

We have the trained professionals to help you address not only the current infestation, but help you prevent recurrences.
